Scarlet Robin

Naturally I was taking photos of something totally different and the little bird I have been keeping an eye out for, for the last month popped passed - wrong lens - wrong iso - and they are so fast - but nevertheless I took the photo - hopefully I will be able to catch him or the little female one again when I am better prepared and will get a fantastic shot! - I am still happy I got this one though. The robins have just moved into our area so it is very exciting to see them.

Last day for Alyce

Today was Alyce's last day - she is starting a new job. Alyce has been seeing Mark since he was in hospital and she has been wonderful. Today Mark also got his new compression sleeve which Beth fitted on for him. Mark has been seeing both Alyce and Beth but will now only see Beth who is the head hand specialist at Canberra Hospital. He has to wear the sleeve for 23hours a day for about the next 8 months. He only has one at the moment to see how it goes and how well it fits, than Beth will be ordering another one to be made for him.

Washing the Verticals!!

Not sure this that this was a good idea to start - !!! Will be good when I have finished! I have never washed them before!

Mousetrap 3rd generation!

I loved this game when I was little, Rebecca, Noel and Mark loved it and now I get to play it with my grandkids!

Dragon Cards

I made these two cards today and tried out a couple of new tecniques - the clouds on the flying dragon and the shading around the other dragon. I think they turned out ok!

I ducked out for a quick iced chocolate at Cafe Injoy. By the time I got there everyone had finished but I caught up pretty quickly. YUM!

Physio again

Another big long day at the hospital. Mark had hydro-therapy and in this photo is actually walking unassisted. Then he had his appointment with the hand specialitst. Here Bev is measuring him up for a special sleeve which he will have to wear 23 hours a day.

Our New Phone Books

Life is just too exciting staying at home everyday and not being able to go far.....!!!!! Today our new phone books were delivered - What excitement!!! And YES Sydney folk this is the WHOLE white pages and yellow pages - I don't know how any of you up there have room to store your phone books! Today is Brayden's 5th Birthday....... Happy Birthday! x x x

Colder Nights

At night Max gets all snuggled up - I think he is feeling the cold a bit more this year. He stays under the blanket until morning - and quite often doesn't get up until just after me! (They are his blankets at the end of my bed!)

First Hydrotherapy Session

Our 3rd visit to the hospital this week! Mark had hydrotherapy and he stood and walked for the first time in nearly 10 weeks. He was very shaky and had to have two physios helping him to start with but was doing it all by himself in no time. He was very sore and exhausted afterwards.
He looks like he is threatening me not to take this photo -but actually he was just moving his arm down. I was so happy to see him upright and he was pretty happy that he was able to stand.

A New Activity Splint

This is Beth the 'head Hand specialist' making a very special activity splint for Mark it took nearly two hours. There is only one other person in the ACT with one.
UNBELIEVABLE -look at the smiles on Mark and Alyce! Beth told Mark to pick up the scissors - this is the first time in nearly 10 weeks that he has been able to pick something up with his right hand. He will be wearing this splint for many months to come and will learn to use his hand with it until the nerves repair. The splint pulls the fingers up and holds the wrist in place.It will be more than 12months before he can use his fingers and wrist on his own.

And look at this.... after a few lessons on how to control the muscles in the palm of his hand to operate the splint Beth made him pick up a pen and then to write his name!

The School Newsletter

I started working at home on the newsletter for school today. A little bit trickier than doing it at work!

Flying Visit

May the 6th at 6am and 6 degrees at the airport. (I am glad I didn't think of that omen on my drive home!) Mark and I enjoyed the 'flying' visit from Lee.

Hospital Windows

Window washers at the hospital - the one on the left is a girl. Don't think I would like this job even though these two were having fun and swinging sidewards, hitting each other and throwing water at each other.

Great Friends

I have such wonderful friends they have not stopped popping in and bringing Mark and I little luxuries.

Friends and Teeth!

Mark went to the dentist today - his first visit - and then afterwards we visited Shadow and John - how wonderful to see Shadow standing. Check out Mark's teeth - the wires were taken off and he has temporary caps on his front teeth. He can't bite yet though. Doesn't he look great! 8 weeks ago today we nearly didn't have him!

Why Two Boys = a sore head!
