Monday 22 March

Mark didn't have such a good day today. He wasn't able to get out of bed as they checked and redressed his arm and he was in a lot of pain. The doctor's are pleased as the graft has taken well.
He took photos with his phone and wanted me to take these.

None of us had realised until today what was under all the bandages - this cut at the top of his arm goes all the way to his palm. The skin graft was where they opened his arm to release the pressure on his nerves. It was open for a week with a vaccuum pump inside it.
The dressing to the front of picture was stapled to his arm - today they removed 43 staples from his graft and he had to be given a lot of pain medication before they did it but it still knocked him about for the whole day. The skin for the graft has been taken from the front of his good leg and won't be opened to be redressed for another 3 days.
This is the otherside of his arm. He still has no movement at all in his wrist and only a tiny bit in his fingers but only when the spint is on. The doctor's are confident that they have saved the nerves but he may not regain any movement for up to 12 months.
